Outcome: Send 100 hyper-personalized cold emails per week with one SDR; achieve 18–28% reply rates

The workflow

  1. 01

    Build the target list

Use Apollo, Clay, or LinkedIn Sales Navigator to pull 100 prospects matching your ICP. Verify emails.

  2. 02

    Research each prospect (5 min/prospect)

Use Perplexity to find one specific signal for each prospect: recent funding, podcast appearance, LinkedIn post, hiring activity. Save to a spreadsheet.

  3. 03

    Generate first lines

For each prospect, run the First-Line Personalizer prompt with their specific signal. Save the strongest opener.

  4. 04

    Compose the full email

Run the Cold Email That Converts prompt for each prospect, plugging in the personalized first line. Review every email — never send unread.

  5. 05

    Send in waves

Use a sequencer (Lemlist, Smartlead, Apollo). Send 20/day over 5 days, 9–11am their local time. Stagger sends within an hour.

  6. 06

    Follow up at day 4

Different angle, not a 'bump'. Reference a different signal or ask a different question. Stop after one follow-up — more emails decrease reply rates.

Why this beats spray-and-pray

100 hand-crafted emails outperform 10,000 generic emails. The math is brutal: at 28% reply rate, 100 emails = 28 conversations. At 1% reply rate, 10,000 emails = 100 conversations. But 28 quality conversations close at 5x the rate of 100 cold conversations. The end result: more revenue from less work.

When to automate further vs not

Anything below the prospect-research step can be automated (sending, follow-up, tracking). The research step itself should stay human — that’s where the unfair advantage comes from. The moment you automate research, your reply rates collapse.
