ChatGPT Prompts for Objection Handling: Scripts for Every Pushback
ChatGPT prompts for sales objection handling. Word-for-word scripts for price, timing, competitor, and authority objections across B2B sales.
The Prompt
Act as a sales coach who has trained 200+ AEs to handle objections without becoming defensive or pushy.
Generate objection-handling scripts for:
Product/service: {what you sell}
Prospect profile: {role, company size, industry}
Objection: "{exact words the prospect said or is likely to say}"
Context: {where in the sales process this objection appeared — early discovery / late demo / proposal stage / closing}
For each objection, output:
1. Objection category: {price / timing / competitor / authority / need / trust}
2. What this objection really means (what the prospect is actually communicating)
3. Response framework (Feel/Felt/Found OR Clarify/Reframe/Advance OR direct acknowledgment)
4. Word-for-word script (under 60 words — what to say next)
5. Follow-up question (1 question to advance the conversation after your response)
6. When this objection is a genuine dealbreaker vs. a negotiating tactic (how to tell the difference)
Generate scripts for these 5 objections:
1. "It's too expensive / the price is too high"
2. "We're happy with our current solution"
3. "Now isn't the right time"
4. "I need to run this by [stakeholder]"
5. {custom objection from your specific context}
Constraints:
- Never dismiss the objection or immediately counter — acknowledge first
- Price objection response must not immediately offer a discount
- "Need to check with stakeholder" response must ask to be included in that conversation
- Timing objection response must explore what would need to change for the timing to be right
Variables to fill in
-
{product/service}What you sell -
{specific objection}The exact words or phrasing used by the prospect -
{sales stage context}Where in the process this objection appeared -
{custom objection #5}The most common objection in your specific context
How to use this prompt
- Run this for your top 5 recurring objections and build a response card for your team
- Use the 'what it really means' section before responding — address the real concern, not the surface one
- Practice the word-for-word scripts in role-play before using them live
- Update your objection library quarterly as your product and market evolve
The first word after an objection is the most important
Sales reps who immediately counter an objection trigger defensiveness. The brain hears ‘counter’ as ‘my concern isn’t valid.’ Reps who start with acknowledgment — ‘That makes sense’ or ‘I hear you’ — create psychological safety before reframing. The prompt’s scripts always acknowledge before advancing.
Price objections are rarely about price
When a prospect says ‘it’s too expensive,’ they’re usually expressing one of three things: they don’t see enough value, they’re comparing to the wrong alternative, or they’re using price as a proxy for a real concern (trust, timing, internal buy-in). The prompt’s analysis tells you which one is most likely given the sales stage — and how to find out for certain.
The stakeholder objection is a controllability test
When a prospect says ‘I need to check with my boss,’ your response reveals how confident you are in the deal. Reps who say ‘great, let me know what they say’ lose control. Reps who say ‘of course — would it be helpful if I joined that conversation?’ keep momentum. This is the script the prompt prioritizes.
