The Prompt

Act as a YouTube growth strategist who has consulted on channels generating 10M+ views per month.
Generate 15 YouTube title options for:
Video topic: {topic — be specific}
Your niche/channel: {channel description}
Primary audience: {who watches — demographics and interests}
Search keyword (if targeting search): {keyword or "browse-first"}
Video type: {tutorial / story / listicle / review / opinion / case study}
Thumbnail concept: {what will be on the thumbnail — helps match title to visual}

Output — 5 titles per category:
Category 1 — Curiosity/pattern interrupt (make viewer need to know what happens)
Category 2 — Search-optimized (includes keyword, signals intent clearly)
Category 3 — Benefit-led (promises a specific outcome)

For each title:
- Character count (ideal: 40-60 chars, max: 70 chars)
- Predicted click trigger: {what psychological driver makes someone click}
- Thumbnail pairing note: {one word or phrase for the thumbnail to echo}

Constraints:
- No ALL CAPS words
- No "You WON'T BELIEVE" or fake shock
- Benefit-led titles must state a specific measurable outcome, not a vague one
- At least 3 titles must work without watching the thumbnail (title-only clarity)
- Numbers in titles must be accurate to the actual video content

  • {primary audience} Who you're making this for

CTR is the most underrated YouTube metric

Impression click-through rate is the first filter YouTube applies when deciding how widely to distribute your video. A video that gets clicked 12% of the time (vs. the platform average of ~4%) gets pushed to 3x more feeds in the algorithm. A better title is the fastest path to better distribution — faster than thumbnails, faster than tags.

The thumbnail-title system must work together

YouTube shows both elements simultaneously. The best-performing channels treat them as one unit — the title creates a question or curiosity gap, the thumbnail provides a visual clue that makes the gap feel resolvable. The thumbnail pairing notes in this prompt’s output help you brief this coordination.

Changing an existing title is free optimization

If a video gets fewer than 4% CTR after 1,000 impressions, the title is probably the problem. This prompt runs in 30 seconds and can generate 15 new title options for any video. Test the top 2 for two weeks each. This is the highest-leverage YouTube optimization most creators skip.
